Posted to Kalinaw News (Nov 27, 2020): High-ranking NPA couple to serve life sentence for kidnapping and serious illegal detention
QUEZON CITY — Two high-ranking NPAs along Joma Sison were found guilty by Judge Ruiz of Branch 216, QC just promulgated today, November 27, 2020 at 8:30 in the morning.
Benito Tiamzon and Wilma Austria-Tiamzon are found GUILTY beyond reasonable doubt of committing kidnapping and serious illegal detention as defined and penalized in Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Article 6 of the same code. They are sentenced to suffer the penalty of reclusion perpetua with all its accessory penalties.
The accused are also ORDERED to pay the complainant, Lt. Abraham Claro Casis PhP 75,000.00 as moral damages, PhP 75, 000.00 as civil indemnity and PhP 75, 000.00 as exemplary damages. The monetary awards for civil indemnity and damages shall earn interest at the legal rate of 6% per annum from date of finality of the judgment until fully paid.
