BAGUIO CITY, Oct. 4 (PIA) - - The Philippine Military Academy(PMA) Host Parent Association Inc. headed by Board of Trustees Chairperson Atty. Mauricio Domogan and PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral Allan Ferdinand Cusi led the virtual launching of the Host Parent Program for PMA MADASIGON (Mga Mandirigmang Dakilang Isinilang para sa Pagbabago ng Nasyon) Class of 2023 here last Saturday.

Cusi, in presenting the cadets of the MADASIGON Class of 2023, expressed the Academy’s gratitude to the members of the Host Parents Association as they embark on another year of providing a home away from home to the cadets as well as in providing parental care, moral support and guidance to mold the character of the country’s future leaders.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong, as the father of the city and in behalf of the Host Parent Association, formally accepted the PMA MADASIGON Class of 2023 as the host parents’ and the city’s sons and daughters.

Philippine National Police Chief, PLtGen Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, in his keynote message, expresses gratitude to the host parents for adopting the PMA cadets as members of their families as it would surely boost the morale and enhance their performance in successfully completing their course and in molding the future leaders not only of the armed forces but also leaders of the communities and the country.

Cascolan assured that to repay the host parents’ kindness and good deeds, the PNP along with the Armed Forces of the Philippines promise to maintain a safe and progressive nation.

The Chief PNP also called on the cadets to regard the support, guidance and care that the host parents give them as inspiration to strive and do their best always.

City Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda , the PMA Host Parents Association Inc. Vice – chairperson, also affirmed their commitment to provide a second home for the cadets, a home away from home.

Being a PMA host parent is both a privilege and a challenge as it includes the responsibility of helping mold the moral and spiritual character of the future leaders of the country, Tabanda added.

The PMA Host Parents program started in 1979 and is now on its 41st year. Host parents are assigned to each of the 324- strong men and women cadets of MADASIGON Class of 2023.

During the launching ceremony, host parents, both old and new, were briefed on the do’s and dont’s in dealing with the cadets as well as house rules in this time of COVID pandemic as the PMA remains closed to tourists and visitors. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
