Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur — The San Miguel Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) conducted the Ceremonial Groundbreaking of its ELCAC projects and a Handog Serbisyo Caravan Friday, October 2, 2020 in Barangay Concepcion, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur province.



The construction of Concepcion farm-to-market road (FMR) and Brgy. Concepcion Covered Court, sourced from local fund, will be realized through the efforts of the Municipal Government of San Miguel led by Hon. Mayor Martinez, Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion led by Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, and Army’s 547th Engineer Battalion led by Col. Emerito Pineda.

The 303-meter FMR and Covered Court, which was sourced from local fund, will benefit 601 residents in an around Barangay Concepcion.

In his message, Army’s 1st Infantry Division Assistant Division Commander Brig. Gen. Bagnus Gaerlan calls for understanding and participation between and among the government agencies and the locals in addressing the communist armed conflict.

“Barangay Concepcion’s infrastructure projects will only be a success with the common understanding, participation, and the combined efforts of everyone involved,” said Brig. Gen. Gaerlan.

Zamboanga del Sur’s 2nd District Representative Hon. Leonardo “Jun” Babasa Jr. also encouraged the NPAs still in the hinterlands to return to the folds of law and avail of the government programs and initiatives.

Also, San Miguel mayor and MTF-ELCAC Chairperson Hon. Angelito Martinez II reiterates that ELCAC projects are for the people and are symbols of good governance.

“These projects are not for us— these are for you, your sons and daughters, and the following generations after them— so they will remember what good governance looks like,” said Hon. Martinez.

A Handog Serbisyo Caravan was also conducted which included free haircut, Operation Tuli, bloodletting, and free medical checkup.
