BALER, Aurora-Various war materials allegedly belonging to the New People’s Army (NPA) have been dug up at an abandoned place for safekeeping and future purposes of communist terrorist groups in the vicinity of Barangay Umiray, Dingalan, Aurora on Tuesday (September 6, 2020).





The 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion of the Philippine Army seized several items including two (2) anti-personnel landmines, two (2) anti-tank landmines, detonating cord, and three (3) pieces of triple A battery at the unoccupied place located at Sitio Pilipit in the said village at around 4:00p.m.

LTC REANDREW P RUBIO INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 91st IB said that the government troops, after receiving a report from an informants in the area, conducted security operations, which led to the discovery of the war materials.

“The recent discovery of landmines is a clear evidenced that the Communist Terrorist Groups are still using this kind of war materials to inflict more casualties against government security forces and innocent civilians amidst COVID-19 pandemic. It is also a clear violation of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law as embodied in the Comprehensive Agreement on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law,” LTC RUBIO said.

He added that the civilians do not like the presence of NPA terrorists in their area and doing their part in making their community peaceful and insurgency-free.

LTC RUBIO also urged the people of Dingalan to continually report in case there are presence of NPAs in their communities in order to prevent their extortion and other terroristic activities in the area.

He added that the group of 1st Lieutenant Jun Niǹo O. Espora, commander of Alpha Company of 91st IB while conducting intel-driven operations in response to the information from a local residents resulting in the recovery of the said war materiel.

The said war materials were brought to the headquarters of Alpha Company of 91st IB based at Barangay Tanawan, Dingalan, Aurora for proper disposition.
