CAMP MELCHOR F DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela – “Be sure to have your best understanding in the dynamics of peace and conflict in your Area of Responsibility,” a resounding reminder of MGen Arnulfo Marcelo B Burgos Jr PA, Commander, Northern Luzon Command, as he delivered his message to the Startroopers in his talk to troops upon his first visit in 5th Infantry Division, Upi, Gamu, Isabela on October 21, 2020.

MGen Burgos Jr lauded the accomplishments of the Startroopers in winning the peace in North Eastern Luzon despite the challenges brought about by COVID19 pandemic.

In his message, MGen Burgos Jr acknowledged that the campaign of 5ID against insurgency is on the right track. He further reechoed that revisiting and reassessing the status of the insurgency campaign is important to identify the gaps and problems encountered in addressing insurgency.

He then encouraged the Startroopers to support the programs and activities of the Regional and Local Task forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict to sustain collaboration among all involved government agencies through the Intensified Stakeholder’s Engagement.

He concluded his message by expressing his confidence that the Startroopers can level up the tone and tempo for a joint, strategic, and synergized Unified Command. “We shall incrementally strive to be the model Unified Command for the AFP. Let us achieve our milestones and waypoints as articulated in our transformation roadmap.”

Meanwhile, MGen Burgos also visited the 502nd Infantry Brigade in Echague, Isabela and 503rd Infantry Brigade in Tabuk City, Kalinga to ensure that all units are doing well in the campaign against insurgency and to assess the preparedness of the units in extending humanitarian assistance and disaster response amidst the threat of the CoVid -19 pandemic. On the other hand, Col Steve D Crespillo Inf (GSC) PA, Commander of 501st Infantry Brigade based in Lal-lo, Cagayan was also engaged by NOLCOM Commander during the activities at 5ID Headquarters.

BGen Laurence E Mina PA, Commander of 5th Infantry Division responded that the Command’s achievements are expression of Startroopers’ dedication to serve and commitment to excellence.
