Kalinaw News: 3 NPA Members Yield to 90th IB

Posted to the Kalinaw News (Oct 21, 2020): 3 NPA Members Yield to 90th IB (By 6th Infantry Division)



CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Three members of the Communist New People’s Army terrorist were presented to Maj. Gen. Juvymax R. Uy, Commander of 6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central, during a simple ceremony at 602nd Brigade, Carmen, North Cotabato on October 19, 2020.

The former rebels have withdrawn their membership to the Communist Terrorist Group and yielded to the members of 90th Infantry (Bigkis-Lahi) Battalion based in Lower Paatan, Kabacan, North Cotabato through the leadership of their Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Rommel Mundala.


One of the returnees said that they have been in the movement for several years but nothing has changed. The 3 former members of CTG belonged to the Guerrilla Front 53, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee where they carried along with them 3 high powered firearms and anti-personnel mine (APM).

Brigadier General Roberto S. Capulong, 602nd Brigade Commander, vows to continue working to step up the pace in the campaign to end local communist armed conflict in its area of operation, “the withdrawal of support and membership of these CTNs is an indicator the we are winning the fight against these decades long fight against the communist organization“ BGen Capulong said.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the former CNTs who decided to return to folds of the government. I urge you to convince your comrades to do the same and be with their families and love ones” Major General Uy said.

The presence of Honorable Governor Nancy Catamco of North Cotabato highlighted the event. She assured the former rebels that the government of North Cotabato will help facilitate the psychosocial programs intended for those who have returned to the mainstream society.
