SECURITY FORCE MULTIPLIERS. A total of 122 residents of Tacurong who completed paramilitary training are helping the police maintain law and order in the city of more than 100,000 inhabitants.
The 122 recruits have undergone a 45-day rigid training and completed the requirements to become full-fledged members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) Active Auxiliaries (CAA).
They were presented to Mayor Angelo Montilla and other officials at the City Hall grounds during a program on Friday.
“They have graduated at the Army’s 6th Infantry Division (6ID) CAA Training Base in Barangay Taviran, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao,” Montilla said.
He said he was proud the Army training team also recognized the top three completers of the basic military training course.
Kim Hachuela topped his class while Reymond Huinda and Gilbert Amondong Jr. came in second and third, respectively.
Tacurong City and the 6ID earlier signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to form a company-size CAA to be deployed to various parts of the city.
As a bourgeoning city in Region 12 (Soccsksargen), Tacurong has become vulnerable to security threats.
Montilla said the activation of CAAs would not only complement the efforts of regular AFP troops but also empower residents to have direct participation in the maintenance of peace and development in the locality.
Under the MOA, the Army provides the CAA aspirants with the basic military training, as well as firearms during the training up to their actual deployment.
The local government unit (LGU), meanwhile, took charge of funding for the subsistence allowances of the CAAs, including their fatigue uniforms and other provisions.
The city LGU has earlier earmarked PHP9 million for the training and deployment of the new force multipliers.
