Makilala, Cotabato – troops from 39th Infantry Battalion under 1002nd Infantry Brigade encountered more or less 20 members of Communist Terrorist Group of New People’s Army under Roberto G. Castillote, alias INOY/SOLOMON, Commander of Sentro de Grabidad (SDG), Pulang Bagani Command (PBC), Southern Regional Committee (SRC) 3, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) at Sitio Garok, Brgy Sibulan, Sta Cruz, Davao del Sur last September 13, 2020 at 03:30 O’clock in the afternoon. The encounter resulted to the death of two (2) Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) recovery of two (2) M16A Riffle, two (2) improvised explosive devices, and subversive documents in their hastily abandoned hideouts.

Troops were fired upon by the CTGs while responding to the information report from concerned citizens that the terrorists are extorting the populace. No civilian was hurt or displaced during the incident which transpired in a very remote and forested part of the said barangay.
”The Battalion appreciates the unending support of the community in tipping-off the presence of the CTGs. This is a clear indication that people are now denouncing the CTGs, aware about their deceptions and are tired of giving on to their extortion demands. I also extend my condolences to the bereaved family of the killed communist terrorists and I urge the remaining members of the communist terrorist group to surrender to the government.” said Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey M Carandang, Commander of the 39th Infantry (Smash Em) Battalion.
