MAGPET, COTABATO – The City Local Government Unit (CLGU) of Kidapawan in collaboration with Army’s 1002nd Infantry Brigade and 72nd Infantry Battalion conducted a “2- Day Punong Barangays Peace and Development Summit” on August 26 -27, 2020 at Cooperative Training Center, Kidapawan City, Cotabato.
The Barangay Captain’s summit with a theme “Kapit Kamay tungo sa Pagbabago ng Barangay. Makiisa, Makilahok, at Makialam” was attended by the 40 Barangay Local Executives of the city. Thisactivity mainly aims to appraise the role, functions, duties and accountabilities of every barangay chairman. Moreover, the lectures focused on the empowerment of individual Local Governance at the Barangay Level, educate them on the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, and gave them knowledge on how to protect their communities through Integrated Territorial Defense System, and more informations on different programs of government intended for them.
The summit comnenced by the presence of Atty. Jose Paolo Evangelista, the City Information Officer representing Hon. Joseph Evangelista, the City Mayor. It was initiated by the CLGU- Kidapawan in partnership with 72IB and facilitated by different agencies from DA, DENR, DILG, PAO, PPDO, PNP and TESDA in giving lectures on their programs and projects; and also testimonies from former rebels on their experiences in barangay infiltration.
During the culmination program, Hon. Rudy S Caoagdan, representative of 2nd District, Cotabato graced the activity by expressing his gratitude for the continuous support of the CLGU and 72IB in maintaining peace and order in the city and the province as well.
It was also attended by City SB Members, Kidapawan City Police Station, and staff of different Local Agencies headed by CLGOO Ms. Julia Judith Geveso.
“This activity gives you more information about the new policies, programs and projects of our government. You Army will always be your partner in attaining lasting peace and development in your respective communities. As much as we could, we will facilitate your LGU in the smooth delivery of basic services to your constituents” LTC Rey T Alvarado said in his message.
