CAMP BANCASI, Butuan City – Two New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists gave themselves up after a running gunbattle with government troops in Kalipay area in Gingoog City, the military reported Wednesday, June 17.

The two rebels were immediately brought to the headquarters of the Army’s 23rd Infantry Battalion (23rd IB) for debriefing in Barangay Alubijid, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

The identities of the two terrorists were temporarily withheld for their safety, but authorities disclosed that they were from Guerilla front 4-A of the CPP (Communist Party of the Philippines)-NPA North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.

They also turned in their high powered firearms with live ammunition, and voluntarily handed them over to 23rd IB commander Lt. Col. Julius Cesar C. Paulo.
