An Army general from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental is one of the 15 senior military officials promoted to the next higher rank by President Rodrigo Duterte.
The promotion of Brig. Gen. Juvymax Uy to the rank of major general, as approved by President Duterte, came after it was endorsed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines Board of Generals and concurred by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
Uy, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1989, is presently the Internal Auditor of the AFP following his stint as assistant commander of the 6th Infantry Division in Mindanao. He used to be assigned in Negros.
Col. Monico Abang, who was assigned with the 6th Special Forces Battalion in Negros, was also designated as the new commander of the Light Reaction Regiment, the Philippine Army’s premier counter terrorism unit.
Abang was previously assigned at the 3rd Infantry Division in Jamindan, Capiz.
Last month, former Western Visayas police director Cesar Hawthorne Binag, was also promoted to the rank of lieutenant general. He is presently the chief of PNP directorial staff, making him the fourth highest ranking police official all over the country.
Former Negros Oriental police director Dionardo Carlos was also promoted from the rank of brigadier general to police major general. He serves as chief of the PNP Directorate for Information and Communication Technology.*
