A Marine corporal died while 12 of his companions were injured in an accident involving a Philippine Marine vehicle in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao on Wednesday.

“The victims all belonged to 2nd Marine Battalion Landing Team who were on board a Kia light truck that flipped and rolled over along the highway in Barangay Alamada of the municipality,” said Maj. Julhamin Asdani, Sultan Kudarat town police chief.

He identified the lone fatality as Marine Cpl. Mitra Sucaldito, who died on the spot due to fatal head and body injuries.

Injured were Marine Private First Class (Pfc) Neil Patrick Ingreso (driver), Corporals Jared Sugagil, Joel Lagos, Marvin Gatchalian, Robert De Asis, Ian Campo Redondo, Jordan Cellio, Cedrick Javares, Ryan Ignacio and Pfcs. Harve Fabro, Aivan Figueroa, and Jesrel Ambat.

Emergency responders of Sultan Kudarat town and Pigcawayan, North Cotabato rushed the victims to the Army’s 6th Infantry Division’s Camp Siongco Hospital in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Initial investigation showed the military truck blew up one of its tires and lost control along a sharp curve in Barangay Alamada.
