Pantukan, Davao De Oro – A certain Abelardo Roxas Francisco alyas “Bobong”, 56 years of age and a resident of Brgy Tagdangua, Pantukan, Davao de Oro voluntarily surrendered to the troops of 28th Infantry (KAMAGONG) Battalion yesterday.

Francisco is a member of the Weakend Guerilla Front 2 of the CPP-NPA-NDF Terrorist Organization. Tired and weary of the unfortunate condition in the armed group, he sought assistance from the troops of Team Kamagong under the leadership of LTC ALEXANDER D BANATAO bringing along with him two (2) Cal .30 Garand Rifles, two (2) Cal .45 pistols, live ammunitions, one (1) High Explosive Hand Grenade and one (1) 7-kilogram Captu-type Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Said surrenderer was brought to the Pantukan Municipal Police Station (MPS) for proper documentation and filing. During the course of the interview, Francisco further divulged the whereabout of another caliber .30 garand rifle at sitio matinglob, Brgy Tagdangua. Immediately, intel operatives of this unit together with 71IB, Pantukan MPS and Regional Mobile Force Company (RMFC) conducted a retrieval operation.

Troops were able to recover one (1) Cal .30 Garand Rifle inside a sack buried in a secluded and vegetated area near Francisco’s residence.

Ltc Banatao lauded the efforts of the troops for an exemplary performance of duty that contributed to the attainment of the unit’s mission. He also emphasized the importance of a harmonious relationship with other units that paved way for the successful operation.

Meanwhile, alyas “Bobong” will be recommended to avail the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP); wherein he will receive Livelihood and Cash assistance from the government.

Ltc Banatao also calls on to the remaining members of the New People’s Army to abandon armed struggle and avail government programs such as the E-CLIP.

“Hindi pa huli ang lahat upang talikuran ang karahasan at magsimula ng panibagong buhay kasama ang pamilya. Laging handa ang gobyerno na tumulong sa inyong pagbabalik loob sa ating pamahalaan” Ltc Banatao said.
