Another NPA’s arms cache was discovered by members of 73rd Infantry Battalion in So Salyan, Brgy Sapu Masla, Malapatan, Sarangani Province on the morning of February 29, 2020 after the revelation of a certain, alias, Tarzan, a former member of NPA group being monitored in Sarangani and surrendered on February 27, 2020 to the same unit.
The arms cache, which is the second arms cache of the same group to be discovered within the week yielded three high powered fire arms: two M16 rifle and one AK47.
It can be recalled that on February 25, 2020 same unit discovered an arms cache of the same group at Sitio Mahayag, Upper Suyan, Malapatan, Sarangani Province which yielded one AK47 and one Garand Rifle. In the same date the 66th Infantry Battalion discovered an arms cache in an isolated area of Sitio Danawan, Brgy. Manurigao, New Bataan, Davao de Oro yielding 11 firearms.
In a separate instance, elements of 88th Infantry Battalion seized an arms cache at vicinity Biblisan, Sitio Pantaron, Brgy Banlag, Valencia City, Bukidnon afternoon of February 28, 2020.
Seized from the cache were:
Seven Shotguns; one Garand Rifle, International Humanitarian Law banned landmine and detonating cords, four caliber 38 pistols, various ammunitions and hand held radio.
In Sitio Ulingan, Brgy Manobo, Magpet, North Cotabato one US Springfield rifle, an IHL banned landmine and subversive document were retrieved by elements of 72nd IB on February 25, 2020.
Eastern Mindanao Command attribute the series of discovery of arms cache to the continuous dwindling of NPA personnel in Eastern Mindanao.
