Government operatives arrested two suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and seized improvised bombs and bomb-making components in Basilan province, a top police official said Wednesday.

Brig. Gen. Froilan Quidilla, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director,
identified the arrested ASG members as Muzrim Illahan and Kadir Ajanal, both followers of Furuji Indama.

Quidilla said the two were arrested Tuesday by a team of policemen and Army troops in Barangay Menzi, Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.

Illahan and Ajanal yielded two improvised explosive devices and bomb-making components, the police official said.


Quidilla lauded the authorities for the accomplishment and thanked the public for their support of the government's peace and order campaign.

“This feat is not possible without the cooperation of the community and their support,” he added.

He said the PRO-9 has been relentless in the campaign against criminality and “will continue to exert its effort to maintain the peace and order in the peninsula.
