Philippine Army (PA) commander, Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay on Wednesday formally received 39 newly-promoted Army generals in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City Wednesday.
He told the newly promoted general officers that their promotions are a testament to the hard work, self-sacrifice, and dedication to duty that has brought them this far.
The generals also took their oath on Monday before President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Given the stars that you bear on your shoulders, we expect that there will be more responsibilities and more feats that you will be able to accomplish,” Gapay added.

Their rank’s star symbol is used in the Armed Forces of the Philippines Coat of Arms and was taken from the national flag representing the three major islands of the Philippines.
“Along with your new rank comes new challenges that will draw out the best in you. The future has more in store, as the Philippine Army continues to build up its capabilities as a reliable and formidable force,” Gapay said.
