CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao -- A military official in Central Mindanao lauded Army personnel for helping partner law enforcement agencies arrest four suspects and seized high-powered guns in separate operations Saturday.

The military provided manpower and back-up logistics to the Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in serving warrants of arrest against the wanted persons.

“I commend the troops for their continuing dedication to support the law enforcement operations to go after the criminals in Central Mindanao,” said Maj. Gen. Diosdado C. Carreon, commander of the 6th Infantry Division and concurrent head of Joint Task Force Central (JTFC).

In Alamada, North Cotabato, elements of Army’s 34th Infantry Battalion, Alamada police and PDEA-12 agents served a search warrant against Tima Pedro in his pinpointed safe houses in Sitio Tabunan and Sitio Maracabac in Barangay Guiling.

The main target of the operation was not around but operating troops instead were able to arrest Ansari Pedro, 26, and Maulana Decampong Macadiar, 20, both of Barangay Guiling at past 9 a.m. Saturday.

Seized from them were one M16 rifle, one homemade shotgun, two rifle grenades, a fragmentation grenade, assorted magazines, 21 small sachets of suspected “shabu” weighing a total of 4.2 grams with a market value of PHP25,000, two kilograms of marijuana with a market value of PHP10,000 and marijuana seeds.

Meanwhile, joint elements of Army’s 37th Infantry Battalion and Palimbang municipal police arrested a certain Jhoel Benito for murder charges in his home in Sitio Umbo, Barangay Baranayan, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.

Law enforcers seized from the suspect a .45-caliber pistol with magazine and ammunition during the 5 p.m. operation.

In Buluan, Maguindanao, military and police agents also arrested a man during anti-drug operations in Barangay Poblacion at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Soldiers from 40th Infantry Battalion, Buluan police office, and PDEA agents surrounded the home of Arlon Empa after he handed over a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer.

Also seized from Empa’s home were 10 pieces of sachets of shabu with a market value of PHP35,000 and the marked money.

Pedro and Macadiar were brought to Alamada custodial facility while Benito was brought to the Palimbang police station for the filing of appropriate charges against them. Empa is currently under PDEA custody.

Carreon said the Army will continue supporting all law enforcement operations within its area of operation.
