HEADQUARTERS, 1003rd Brigade, Barangay Mahayag, DC – A closing ceremony for the graduates of various skills trainings and course initiated by the 56th Infantry Battalion with the Provincial Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) of Davao Del Norte commenced today in Sitio Tibucag, a far-flung area in Barangay Dagohoy, Talaingod, Davao Del Norte.

A closing ceremony for the graduates of various skills trainings and course initiated by the 56th Infantry Battalion with the Provincial Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) of Davao Del Norte commenced today in Sitio Tibucag, a far-flung area in Barangay Dagohoy, Talaingod, Davao Del Norte.

The 74 graduates, all Ata-Manobo men and women from the said area, satisfactorily finished the 20-day Plaster Concrete Masonry Surface (Leading to Masonry National Certificate II) with 34 male graduates and the 3-day Beads Making with 20 female graduates and Abaca Processing with 20 female graduates.

The trainings were conducted in partnership with the 1003rd Brigade, the Municipality of Talaingod, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development of Davao Del Norte (PSWD), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PFIDA).

The Plaster Concrete Masonry graduates while on training were provided 100.00 pesos as daily allowance for the duration of their training. Collectively, all the trainees were provided free meals during their training. Present during the Closing ceremony were: Colonel Nolasco A Mempin, Commander of the 1003rd Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Norman E Valdez, Commanding Officer of the 56 Infantry Battalion, Honorable Jonnie A Libayao, Mayor of Talaingod Town, Ms Arlene S Bandong, Provincial Director of TESDA Region XI, Mr Jeffrey R Calamongay representing Davao Del Norte Governor Edwin I Jubahib and other representative officials from the province of DTI and PFIDA.

The said training was the first conducted under Davao Del Norte’s Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) headed by TESDA. PRLEC is one of the clusters under Davao Del Norte’s Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict conducting poverty alleviation efforts in Conflict-Affected and Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (CONAAs and GIDAs) as embodied in the President’s Executive Order Number 70.
