WESTMINCOM: Armed lawless group leader, 6 others neutralized in Midsayap

One BIFF-affiliated armed lawless group leader and 6 of his followers were neutralized in an encounter in Midsayap on Wednesday morning.

While conducting law enforcement operation, combined elements of the 34th Infantry Battalion and Midsayap Municipal Police Station encountered
more or less 10 Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) Bungos Faction-ALG led by Mama Macalimbol in Sitio Narra, Barangay Tumbras, Midsayap, North Cotabato at 5:05am of October 23, 2019.




The Firefight which lasted for 40 minutes resulted in 7 enemies killed including Macalimbol,who has an existing Warrant of Arrest for multiple attempted murder, and 6 of his followers.



Further, troops recovered 7 high-powered firearms and ammunitions which includes, one PAL Jet Caliber 7.62 with 256 rounds ball; 2 Garand with 9 clips; 1 Caliber .50 improvised Barret; 1 M14 with 4 magazines; 1 improvised M14 with magazine; 1 M16 with magazine, 1 round 40mm High Explosive; and 6 rounds Caliber .504, 36 rounds Caliber .30, and 113 rounds 5.56 ball.



Also recovered were 2 pieces commercial radio; 8 assorted cellular phones; 25 identification cards; 6 assorted bandoliers; and assorted drug paraphernalia.

34IB Commander, Lt. Col. Glenn Loreto Caballero said, “the success of the operation was made possible through the commitment of the AFP, PNP, and local government unit as well as the immense support from the local populace in the area.”

Meanwhile, JTF Central commander Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon said that the joint operation was part of the AFP and PNP’s mandated task to preserve peace and support the war against terrorism.

The cadavers of the killed ALG personalities were turned-over to the BLGU of Tumbras for proper disposition while the recovered HPFAs, assorted drug paraphernalia, and other war materiel are currently under the custody of 34IB for safekeeping.

“This commendable accomplishment of the 34IB and the police only shows how persistent we are to track down the remaining lawless elements that destabilizes our campaign towards peace and progress in Mindanao,” said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, WestMinCom commander.
