With the surrender of five communist terrorists in Zamboanga del Norte yesterday, 102nd Infantry Brigade commander Col. Leonel Nicolas said, “We are gaining grounds and our relentless military operation in the area pressured them to surrender.”



“With their surrender, we hope that they can encouraged their comrades to follow their path for them to benefit the programs of the government,” Col. Nicolas added.

Five NPA members yielded to the troops of the 97th Infantry Battalion at their headquarters in Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte yesterday, September 10, 2019.



Subject surrenderors also turned over one Browning automatic rifle, one M1 Garand rifle, and eight anti-tank improvised explosives.

“The surrender of the five CNTs is a product of the fruitful information dissemination that encouraged them to return to the folds of the law and we will help them enroll and benefit in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government,” said 97IB commander, Lt. Col. John Andrada.

Meanwhile, JTF ZamPeLan commander, Maj. Gen. Roberto Ancan acknowledged the sterling leadership of the RTF-ELCAC 9 and PTF-ELCAC of Zamboanga del Norte that led to the successful surrender of said NPA members.

“Western Mindanao Command stands firm in bringing about safety and security in its area of operations,” said WestMinCom commander, Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana.

“While we intensify our operations in critical areas, we are more than willing to facilitate and encourage peaceful mechanisms to address the security concerns in Central and Western Mindanao,” Lt. Gen. Sobejana added.
