Netizen urges public to use social media vs. Reds propaganda

From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 11, 2019): Netizen urges public to use social media vs. Reds propaganda

CEBU CITY -- A netizen, who is a non-uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police assigned in the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), has pressed the public to fight against the deceptions and propaganda of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New Peoples Army (CPP-NPA) through social media.

Merlie Dacunos, a non-uniformed staff writer of the CPPO, said the Filipino public can counter the black propaganda of the CPP-NPA being used to “brainwash students, communities, and common people” through social media.

“We have a powerful tool at our disposal, the internet and Facebook and other social media sites. We can be warriors in disseminating information to the youth. Let us work together to expose the opportunistic communist leaders who enjoy and lounge in the comforts of their homes and took shelter in foreign supporters, while the people on the ground are suffering, killed in armed encounters for fighting the government,” Dacunos said in her essay posted on CPPO official Facebook page on Monday.

She lamented that “young lives have been lost (due) to a cause that has nipped their lives for a future of limitless possibilities.”

She urged the public “not to stand on the sides and watch” as the CPP-NPA “steal children away from their parents and siblings.”

Dacunos said the insurgents “robbed them of a bright future and has fed them to a system of wrong idealism.”

“These young people have become the front liners to destroy government and influence the oppressed to fight government forces,” she pointed out. The non-uniformed personnel bewailed occurrences where parents watched while their children turned away and tend to forget them.

She called on the youth to be caring individuals by educating them of the “warped beliefs” of the communist insurgents, who are “feasting on the minds of students.”

The netizen questioned the relevance of the CPP-NPA. “What has the CPP-NPA brought or contributed to our country? It has cost and lost thousands of lives, stunted the country’s economy and undermined our democracy.”

The post pressed on to declare that the wrong idealism proliferated by the communist insurgents to the masses has lasted this long because of the persistence of their propaganda machines and published literary works promoting their cause.

“They continue to tell their lies and has brainwashed students, common people, farmers and the oppressed,” she said, adding that “their exploitation of emotions and the plight of the poor people has multiplied the magnitude of their wrong idealism. They twisted stories that misguided the masses to fight against the government.”

“Unless we accept the fact that we are all part of the problem, we will never move forward. Unless we make a stand and together, decisively and finally address the issue of communism and its infiltration of the various sectors in our society, we will just pathetically continue to watch the communist terrorists eat away our young, destroy our families and rob our children of the bright future that they deserve,” she pointed out.

The NUP of the CPPO said as a public servant, she will continue to participate in the PNP’s community outreach programs, by visiting remote areas and bringing services right at the doorsteps of the people, to help the government gain people’s trust.
