Brgy Pigsag-an, Cagayan de Oro City–Troops of 65th Infantry Battalion 9th Infantry Division under the operational control of 403rd Brigade figured in an encounter against more or less twenty (20) CPP-NPA terrorist (CNTs) under the Power Company, Sub- Regional Committee 5 (SRC5), North Central Mindanao Regional Committee led by @ Rebu/Yur and seized their hideout at an uninhabited area in Brgy Pigsag-an, Cagayan de Oro City.
The encounter transpired at around 2:20 o’clock in the afternoon of July 30, 2019 when the operating troops of Charlie Company, 65th Infantry (Stalwart) Battalion led by 1LT ROLITO V TECSON JR (OS) PA, conducted Focus Military Operation (FMO) at forested area of Brgy Pigsag-an, Cagayan de Oro City after a concerned citizens reported the presence of the armed men doing extortion and teach-in activities in the said barangay.
The firefight resulted to one (1) personnel wounded from the government side while several NPAs were either killed or wounded as evidenced by the blood stain scattered on the encounter site. Recovered in the site were one (1) unexploded anti-personnel mine, the use of which is prohibited under the United Nations Ottawa Treaty, expended ammunition of M16/M14/AK47, and personal belongings.The wounded soldier was immediately evacuated to Camp Evangelista Station Hospital for medical treatment and is now in stable condition.
Lt. Col. Benjamin B Pajarito Jr., Commanding officer of 65th Infantry Battalion, said “the security operations in the area was a result of the information received from the populace who are sick and tired of the continuous lies and deceit of the CNTs”. He also added “the unit will intensify its campaign against the CNTs to insulate the populace from the influence of the terrorists. The people have spoken and they want to live freely under the democratic way of life, free from the influence of CPP-NPA terrorists”.
Once again, we encourage the CNT members to lay down their arms and abandon the armed struggle to enjoy the government’s Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). They are all welcome, as long as they express their desire to surrender and avail the benefits and be productive members of society.
