Headquarters, Western Mindanao Command, Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City- July 4, 2019.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu on 12 wounded soldiers during his visit in Zamboanga City yesterday, July 3.



Awarded were Staff Sergeant Ferdinand Clemente, Sergeant William Andreade, Sergeant Marlon Domingo, Sergeant Ryan Ferrer, Sergeant Richard Tudla, Sergeant Mark Joseph Mamingcol, Sergeant Jykyl Bautista, Corporal Serto Bagni, Corporal Rommel Soliman, Private First Class John Angelo Carpio, Private First Class Ralph Sabrosa, and Private First Class Dariel Bolibar.



Said personnel of 1st Brigade Combat Team sustained wounds in an explosion in Barangay Kajatian, Indanan, Sulu on June 28. “The courage and will of our soldiers to fight for lasting peace is truly commendable that the president deemed it fit to recognize their heroic deeds,” said Lieutenant General Cirilito E. Sobejana, Commander Western Mindanao Command.



“Their sacrifices will not be put in vain as we exceed all efforts, by sustaining tactical and intelligence operations, to combat terrorism in Mindanao, especially in Sulu,” he added.

The awarding was held at Camp Navarro General Hospital in Calarian, this city at 7:30 pm yesterday. President Duterte also donned Lieutenant General Sobejana his new insignia.
