CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao – The Department of National Defense together with OPAPP, NTF-ELCAC, NICA, NSC facilitated an Orientation on Executive Order No.70 (INSTITUTIONALIZING THE WHOLE-OF- NATION APPROACH IN ATTAINING INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE PEACE, CREATING A NATIONAL TASK FORCE TO END LOCAL COMMUNIST ARMED CONFLICT, AND DIRECTING THE ADOPTION OF A NATIONAL PEACE FRAMEWORK) at Kampilan, Clubhouse in 6th Infantry Division Headquarters on July 18, 2019.
The activity was graced by the Secretary of National Defense Secretary Delfin N Lorenzana with OPAPP Secretary Carlito G Galvez Jr and Interim Chief Minister of BARMM Honorable Ahod Balawag Ebrahim. Also in attendance were USec Yano of DND, DDG Vicente Agdamag of the NSC, Mr. Wencelito Andanar, the Special Envoy to Malaysia, the Local Chief Executives of the five provinces and two cities under BARMM, the Ministers and Heads of Agencies of the BARMM Government and the members of the BARMM Transition Authority, the military leadership headed by Commander Western Mindanao Command LTGen Cirilito Sobejana, COMMANDER 6ID MGen Diosdado C Carreon, Commander 11ID MGen Corleto Vinluan, BGen Romeo Brawner Jr representing Commander 1ID, the Brigade Commanders under WestminCom and PBGen Marni Marcos Jr the RD of PRO BARMM and other senior Police and Military Officers.
Discussed were the Presidents’ Guidance on Security and Development and Security Situation in BARMM relative to communist terrorist group, Local Terrorist Groups, and other threat groups, Countering Violent Extremism, the National Action Plan to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (Executive Order no. 70) and NTF Organizational Structures Salient Features, BARMM Socio-Economic Updates and Challenges, updates on the Interim Office of BARMM Government and Updates on the Bangsamoro Transition Authority.
The activity aimed to inform the BARMM Leadership, Local Chief Executives of the BARMM Provinces and Cities, Military and Police Commanders and other agencies about the salient points of EO 70 and its implementation with the goal of crafting a similar framework in a regional context to address the security issues in BARMM involving the different stakeholders in the region.
BARMM Interim Chief Minister during his speech said “We know that you know that we are still at the infancy in the BARMM with very high challenges we are facing. We hope that we will succeed. And with the support of the security sector, with the support of the local government and with the support of our national country, we are hoping that we will succeed as our failure will be the failure not only of the bangsamoro people but the failure of the region and the failure of the country”.
The 6th Infantry Division will support the BARMM Government in crafting their regional security framework to address the different security issues in 6ID AOR so that peace and development can already be achieved in the 6ID AOR. MGen. Carreon, Commander 6ID said.
