In the midst of the intense offensives on the ground, a follower of top leader Radulan Sahiron and another member of the Abu Sayyaf surrendered to military troops in Sulu on Monday afternoon, April 8.
Abu Sayyaf members Nidsmar Annuddin, 23, and Limo Ammad, 45, yielded to soldiers from 2nd Special Forces Battalion in said province at 4pm Monday.
The surrenderors handed over an M16 rifle and a Garand rifle.
Annuddin is a member of Radulan Sahiron’s group, while Ammad is a follower of late sub-leader Alhabsy Misaya.
The surrenderors were presented to Brigadier General Ariel Felicidario III, 1101st Brigade Commander, at the headquarters of the 21st Infantry Battalion in Barangay Danag, Patikul.
They will undergo a medical check-up and custodial debriefing to be facilitated by the troops.
“Through the resolute efforts of our ground troops, we made unprecedented accomplishments that dampened the will and strength of the Abu Sayyaf, and that is evinced by the influx of terrorists that lay down their arms in Sulu,” said Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega, Western Mindanao Command chief.
“We welcome the capitulation of terrorists in Sulu, but we will nevertheless sustain our pursuit and offensives against hardcore terrorists that perpetrate violence in the area.”
