2 ASG bandits yield amid military offensives in Sulu

From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 10, 2019): 2 ASG bandits yield amid military offensives in Sulu

Two Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits have surrendered to military authorities amid the offensive against them in the province of Sulu, military officials said Wednesday.

Col. Gerry Besana, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) information officer, identified the ASG surrenderers as Nidsmar Annuddin, 23, and Limo Ammad, 45.
Besana said they turned over an M-16 Armalite and Garand rifles when they surrendered to troops of the Army's 2nd Special Forces Battalion at about 4 p.m. Monday.

Annuddin is a follower of Radulan Sahiron, the oldest ASG leader, while Ammad is a member of the group of slain sub-leader Alhabsy Misaya, he said.

Annuddin and Ammad were presented to Brig. Gen. Ariel Felicidario III, the Army’s 1101st Infantry Brigade commander, at the headquarters of the 21st Infantry Battalion in Barangay Danag, Patikul.

Besana said they also underwent medical check-ups and were placed under custodial debriefing to be facilitated by the troops.

Lt. Gen. Arnel dela Vega, Westmincom chief, welcomed the surrender of both men, attributing it to "the resolute efforts of our ground troops."

"We welcome the capitulation of terrorists in Sulu, but we will nevertheless sustain our pursuit and offensives against hardcore terrorists that perpetrate violence in the area,” dela Vega said.
