A suspected New People’s Army (NPA) commander was arrested in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur during an operation on Sunday, a military statement said.
The statement released on Tuesday identified the suspect as Robert ‘Satur or Arpak’ Tejero Calipay, 29, who was arrested by the joint forces of the Army’s 75th Infantry Battalion and Bislig City Police Station at Sitio San Agustin in Barangay San Roque.
Calipay, a resident of Lianga in Surigao del Sur, was allegedly the commander of Platoon 2, Weakened Guerrilla Front (WGF) 14 of the Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC).
A warrant of arrest was issued against Calipay for arson, frustrated murder, attempted homicide, multiple attempted murder and attempted murder.
Among the recovered items from the suspect were a hand grenade, a bundle of detonating cord, 16 blasting caps, three cellphones with accessories and P48, 000 cash.
Calipay is currently detained at the Bislig City Police Station to undergo inquest proceedings.
