IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon -- Four members of the terror group of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the 8th Infantry ‘Dependable’ Battalion (8IB) at Poblacion, Impasugong town, Wednesday, December 19.

Lieutenant Colonel Ronald M. Illana, 8IB Commanding Officer, said the group was operating under Sub-Regional Committee 1 (SRC1) of the CPP-NPA North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).

The surrendering NPA couple alias “Balogbog,” 23 years old and his 21-year-old wife alias “Hana” said they are fed up running away from government forces, especially this December when they should have been with their families and friends to celebrate the yuletide season.

Both of the couple’s comrades, identified as alias “Olayan,” 52, and the 20-year old youngest of the group alias “Jeca” said they decided to surrender because they heard that their former allies received benefits and that the government has in store for them once they return to the fold of society and embrace the rule of law.

The group also surrendered one M79 grenade launcher; two units caliber 9mm submachine gun; and one caliber 357 revolver.

“Through massive ground operation and deployment of our Community Support Program teams in the area, we swayed them to surrender.

Also, with President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of “No holiday truce with reds,” we will continue our operations to fulfill our mission,” Lt Col. Illana said.
