MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon --Three more members of the aremed terrorist group of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) surrendered to 1Lt. Noel M. Manalang, Commanding Officer, Charlie Company 8IB, 4ID Philippine Army at St. Peter, Malaybalay City this Saturday, December 22.

Alias “Macmac,” 26 years old; alias “Momo,” 23; and 21 years old alias “Talogkos” are all combatants of CPP-NPA Platoon S3, Guerilla Front 6, Sub-Regional Committee 2 of North Central Mindanao Regional Committee operating in the hinterlands of Cabanglasan, Valencia, and San Fernando, all in Bukidnon.

Lieutenant Colonel Ronald M. Illana, 8IB Commander, believe that more NPA rebels would surrender after seeing their former comrades now living in peace.

“They [NPAs] decided to lay down their arms after learning of the government’s Enhanced Local Integration Program (E-CLIP),” he said.

E-CLIP seeks to contribute towards achieving permanent and peaceful closure of all armed conflicts with non-state groups and facilitate the mainstreaming of former rebels to become productive citizens.

Through the Task Force Balik-Loob, former rebels will be granted immediate financial assistance, livelihood, payment for the firearms surrendered, and a reintegration package that includes capacity development training, educational assistance, and health services, among other benefits.

Lt. Col Illana said that the continuous focused military operation; the army’s Community Support Program teams who assist people in identified guerilla zones; and the massive information dissemination of E-CLIP, stirred the rebels to lay down their arms, embrace the rule of law, and live peaceful and productive lives with their families.

“The surrenderers did the right and timely decision this holiday season. We know that we, Filipinos, love to celebrate Christmas with families. Hence, we expect more surrenders in the coming days,” he said.
