PIAGAPO, Lanao del Sur -- A total of 104 village peacekeepers were inducted as members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) of Piagapo Municipal Police Station (MPS) on Jan. 10 after completing the skills training conducted by the local Philippine National Police (PNP).
Lanao del Sura Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO) Director PSSupt. Madzgani M. Mukaram and Piagapo Mayor Engr. Ali L. Sumandar led the awarding of certificates to the village peacekeepers who will serve as police force multipliers.
During the ceremony, Mukaram vowed to extend full support to the BPAT graduates as police-community law enforcement partners.
Sumandar, on the other hand, urged them to be united in order to maintain a peaceful community and harmonious peoples’ relation.
The graduation ceremony was also witnessed by Piagapo MPS Acting Chief SPO3 Sirad Manalocon and LDSPPO Community Relations Branch Chief Nelson B. Madivo, who served as the inducting official.
BPAT was created as the primary operators to conduct community-oriented policing and public safety system pursuant to the authority of the National Peace and Order Council (NPOC) and the PNP.
Its functions include mobilization of various sectors of the community in support of keeping peace and order and safety, conduct of crime prevention and deterrence measures to protect the vulnerable sectors of the community, and support the Barangay Justice System, among others.
