SOUTH UPI, Maguindanao- “BOL is a political solution to Mindanao conflict, “Mohagher Iqbal, Chairman of MILF Peace Implementing Panel emphasized during a Dialogue for Peace held in South Upi, Maguindanao on December 18.
The dialogue was facilitated by Kalilintad Peace Building Institute (KPI).
“BOL is an inclusive law that will bring lasting peace”, Iqbal stressed
“BOL will solve injustices committed against Moro people”, Iqbal added.
Iqbal also said that the yes vote is for peace.
“BOL is for unity, peace, justice and development”, Iqbal said in his message during the peace dialogue.
. Meanwhile, BTC Commissioner Melanio Ulama Ulama who is representing the indigenous peoples (IPs) in the 21-member BTC said that the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) is for all of us tri-people.
Ulama emphasized that “The purpose of BOL is peace and development for Muslims, Christians and Indigenous peoples.”
“We will unite and vote yes in upcoming plebiscite for BOL on January 21, 2019.
Commissioner Susana Anayatin, who claims to be representing the settlers’ communities in the BTC, said “Settlers Communities will have reserved seat in the Bangsamoro Parliament.”
Anayatin added that the rights of settlers that are embedded in the Philippine Constitution will be respected by the Bangsamoro Government. A provision on settlers’ rights were also mentioned in the BOL.
Anayatin encouraged local political leaders to campaign for the BOL in far-flung areas.
“Let us support this law that will bring peace, development and stability in our community. It will fulfill our dream for better life”, Anayatin highlighted.
Local leaders expressed commitment to campaign for the yes vote during the plebiscite.
President Duterte signed BOL into law last August 6, 2018 few days after its passage by the Bicameral Conference Committee.
