DWDD: CPP leader in communist purge arrested in Quezon City

From Katropa DWDD-CRS Virtual RTV Facebook Page (Nov 8): CPP leader in communist purge arrested in Quezon City

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City — Joint elements of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police arrested top communist personality Vicente Ladlad in a safehouse in Doña Tomasa Subdivision, Brgy San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon city at 1:30 a.m. today, November 8.

Vicente Ladlad is a member of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) Central Committee, Head of its National united Front Commission, and consultant to now defunct peace negotiations.

Found in his safehouse are one AK47, one M16A1, one Colt Mk IV, four hand grenades, and numerous ammunition.

Ladlad is known for his involvement in the multiple murder cases for the purging of communist members tagged by the CPP leadership as alleged government spies in the CPP organization.

At least 67 bodies were unearthed in September 2006 in what is now dubbed as the Inopacan, Leyte massacre involving the Southern Leyte Front of the New People’s Army.

Ladlad was among prominent names in the CPP who were charged with multiple counts of murder due to the Inopacan massacre. Also charged is Adelberto Silva, who was arrested earlier last month in Laguna, and head of the National Organization Department and Secretary General of the CPP.

Also arrested by virtue of a search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 89 National Capital Judicial Region are Ladlad’s aides Alberto Villamor and Virgiña Villamor.

“I would like to commend the swift response of the authorities and the concerned citizen for the arrest of these notorious personalities. The people’s vigilance has been an important aspect of our security operations and has been valuable in the fight against terrorism,” said AFP Chief of Staff General Carlito Galvez Jr.

General Galvez stressed the importance of jointness and cooperation in the security sector in causing the eventual demise of terror groups and its leaders.

“The AFP and PNP in its unrelenting pursuit of peace and prosperity will be hitting them in all fronts. The apprehension of Ladlad will create a leadership vacuum in their organization which will speed up the process of defeating insurgency in the country,” General Galvez said.

He added that since the assumption of President DUTERTE, 54 prominent communist personalities have been neutralized. This has resulted in the disruption of internal coordination of the CTG from the national level down to the NPA platoons.

In March, Bicol Region’s top NPA leader Joey Fajardo was killed in a shootout with the police in a subdivision in Barangay Cararayan, Naga City.

Nerita Calamba De Castro, head finance officer of the NPA in Mindanao and secretary general of the “Regional White Area Committee” was arrested by the police in Barangay Bioto, Tandag City, Surigao Del Sur in June.

Authorities also arrested Silva and the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Secretary Edicel Legaspi notoriously known as Joventud Del Fierro in an operation in Sta Cruz, Laguna last month.

“The leadership vacuum led the insurgents to fall complacent, causing the stagnation and decline in their major fields of work in launching the armed struggle,” General Galvez said.
