A soldier was wounded in an ambush by suspected members of New People’s Army (NPA) Saturday morning in Ragay town in Camarines Sur province, a police report said.

Sergeant Amador Mansion, commander of a Philippine Army detachment in Ragay, was riding a motorcycle with a man identified only by his last name Portugal, a Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) Active Auxiliaries member, and negotiating a road in Barangay (village) Baya going to the detachment camp when NPA rebels waylaid them with a volley of gunfire at 8:55 a.m. Saturday, according to Chief Insp. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson.
