From ABS-CBN (Sep 2): 25 communist rebels surrender in Sultan Kudarat: military

Twenty-five communist rebels surrendered in Sultan Kudarat during the last week of August, the military said Saturday.

Authorities seized 12 firearms and 2 improvised explosives from the rebels, which were members of the
New People's Army's Guerilla Front 73.

The military, in a statement, identified two of the rebels as Lumad siblings Letol Timbang, 29, and Dina Timbang, 19, who both surrendered last Wednesday.

Twenty-three more rebels surrendered on Friday, according to the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion.

The rebels will be presented to Sultan Kudarat Gov. Sultan Pax Mangudadatu, the military said.

It added that the government has "consistently" provided cash and livelihood aid to qualified rebels who surrendered under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
