NSFA, Panacan, Davao City (DWDD) – An undetermined number of New People’s Army (NPA) members reportedly entered Sitio Kaluyapi, Barangay Langgawisan, Maragusan, Compostela Valley Province on February 6, 2018, at about 11:00 AM which forced people to evacuate.

Accordingly, the said group who came from Sitio Mandaopan, Barangay Bahi of the same municipality entered the said sitio, threatened the community and held some of its constituents, leaders and teachers for unknown purpose.

The report also said that about 6:30 PM of the same day, an estimated 150 individuals from Sitios Lumad, Maapdo, and Caloyapi all of Barangay Langgawisan evacuated at Barangay Coronobe’s Covered Court and School. They have fled due to the heavy presence and coercion of NPAs in the area.

According to the Municipal Disaster Rescue and Response Council of Maragusan, the number of Displaced Persons in their evacuation centers are estimated to be more than 1,000.

In response, the 66th Infantry Battalion under Ltc. Palmer M. We are taking the necessary action to restore normalcy in the area and coordination with concerned offices are being done to mitigate the misery of the community,” Lt. Gen. Madrigal Jr. said.
