NDF/NDF-NCMR: Invigorate the revolutionary spirit of Bonifacio and of the Kabataang Makabayan

NDF-North Central Mindanao Region posted to the National Democratic Front Website (Nov 30): Invigorate the revolutionary spirit of Bonifacio and of the Kabataang Makabayan

Press Statement
November 30, 2017

The New People’s Army – North Central Mindanao Region is in solidarity with the Filipino people in celebrating the 154th birthday of Andres Bonifacio and the 53rd anniversary of Kabataang Makabayan (KM).

We salute to the heroic resistance of Bonifacio and of the Katipunan fighters against the three-century old oppression and exploitation of the Spanish colonizers and of the occupation of US Imperialist.

We also salute to the success of the Katipunan in arousing, organizing and mobilizing the Filipino masses to end the Spanish colonialization. Despite of their reluctance in weaponry and war capability, they were triumphant in proving that the strength of the masses is the key to defeat the Spanish colonial army.

Moreover, we salute to the spirit of nationalism and patriotism of the Katipunan in breaking the chains that had been shackling the Filipino people. Our heroes had with them their high moral in aspiring for a free nation.

Concurrently, we also give our highest gratitude to the Kabataang Makabayan who will be celebrating its 53rd anniversary as a militant organization of young revolutionaries. Deriving inspirations from Bonifacio and the Katipunan, KM was founded on November 30, 1964 as recognition of the historical role of the youth to continue and conclude the unfinished revolution with the banner of national democracy under the leadership of the proletariat.

Within its five decades of existence, KM proved its role in the intensification of the people’s war. Among the most significant was Ka Julito Tiro, a former KM member in Xavier University, who was then an NPA commander. Also, among here were former KM members from the urban who served to their last breath as Red fighters in the region such as Ka Manuel Jabagat, Ka Kimberly Jul Luna, Ka Prince Peduca, Ka Ismael Magbanua, Ka Rhyman Mandahinog and other young martyrs.

Hence, more than commemorating, we should invigorate the militant and revolutionary spirit of Bonifacio, of the Katipunan and of the Kabataang Makabayan. We should give concrete deeds from their spirit of heroic struggle, sacrifice and resistance. The New People’s Army is always open to every youth who aspires to enliven the arm struggle and continue the revolution waged by Bonifacio. #
