From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Dec 2): URBAN WARFARE  |  Army Troops undergo Counter Terrorism Training

FORT ANDRES BONIFACIO, Taguig City (DWDD) The different units of the Philippine Army are undergoing Counter Terrorism Training in Fort Ramon Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija.

According to Army Spokesperson Lt Col Rey Tiongson, soldiers are undergoing training and preparations as part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines military operations development in dealing with any threat under an urban terrain setting.

Currently, the AFP only has the Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Light Reaction Regiment that are trained and equipped in Urban Warfare.

The activity has long been planned way back 2016, even before the Marawi incident, so that our troops can enhance their capability in jungle warfare, mountainous areas and urban terrain.

The troops are also undertaking capability enhancement on hostage rescue operations on various situations.

These training will be duplicated in other AFP units like the infantry and mechanized units to enhance inter-operability. AES
