4 rifle grenades, 2 guns recovered

From the Visayan Daily Star (Dec 9): 4 rifle grenades, 2 guns recovered

Four rifle grenades believed to be hidden by suspected New People's Army rebels were surrendered to the police in Toboso, while two more guns were recovered by the police from four arrested suspects in Kabankalan City, all in Negros Occidental Thursday.

The four rifle grenades were discovered hidden in a nipa plantation Sitio Plarendeng, Brgy. Salamanca,Toboso, b y a certain Rolando Tumarse who reported it to the barangay officials.

Initial investigations of the Toboso police showed that the explosives may have been owned by communist rebels operating in the area.

The explosives will be turned over to the Explosives Ordnance Division of the 303rd Infantry Brigade for proper disposition, Chief Inspector Ariel Pico,Toboso police chief, said.

Meanwhile, four firearms, including two .22 caliber rifles, a .22 caliber pistol and .45 caliber pistol were also surrendered by a retired private employee to the police in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Also surrendered, in line with the OplanBoga campaign of the police, were1,000 rounds of ammunition for a .45 caliber pistol, and 1,818 ammunition for a .22 rifle and pistol.
