From Update Philippines (Dec 8): US Coast Guard official visits PH coast watch center, BRP Suluan

Unites States Coast Guard (USCG) Liaison to US Pacific Command USCG Captain Sherman Lacey visited the Philippine National Coast Watch Center (NCWC) today, December 8.

Lacey also paid a courtesy visit to Philippine Coast Guard Officer-In-Charge Commodore Joel S Garcia PCG Ph.D., H.D., Al Haj.

“During the courtesy call, Commodore Garcia presented an overview of the NCWC and PCG in order to identify potential areas of cooperation between the PCG and USCG,” the PCG said.

The NCWC is an inter-agency maritime surveillance and coordinated response facility. It was established as a coordinating and implementing mechanism in a whole-of-government approach to address current and future maritime safety, security, and environmental protection challenges in the Philippines.

Captain Lacey was also given a tour of PCG’s 5th Parola-class multi-role response vessel BRP Suluan (MRRV-4406).
