LIEUTENANT GENERAL REY LEONARDO GUERRERO is the 49th Chief of Staff of the 125,000-strong Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Lt. Gen Guerrero is a member of Philippine Military “Maharlika” Class of 1984. He graduated Number 3 in his class. He was the commander of the 61st Infantry Battalion in southern Negros and 3rd Infantry Division before becoming the Commanding General of the AFP Eastern Mindanao Command that covers Davao City.
As the chief of the Eastern Mindanao Command, he oversees the Davao Region, the bailiwick of Duterte, Caraga, and parts of Soccsksargen.
Guerrero used to be the commander of the Task Force Davao and a Special Forces officer. He was also assigned to the Presidential Security Group under former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
He consistently topped his career courses, has been a recipient of various awards such as Legion of Honor, Bronze Cross Medal, Distinguished Service Star and Military Merit and Commendation Medals and various commendations and recognition from NGOs and LGUs. MCAG
