GEN EDUARDO M AÑO was born October 26, 1961. He is the incumbent Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He served as the 57th Commanding General of the Philippine Army from July 16, 2015 to December 7, 2016. He was the Chief of Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) from 2012-2014 prior to his appointment as being commander of 10th Infantry “Agila” Division of Philippine Army.

During his leadership in the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP), he scored major arrests of CPP chairman Benito Tiamson, he also led the hunt for Jovito Palparan on kidnapping and serious illegal detention, Ferdinand Marcelino for apprehending the Alabang Boys drug trafficking group and exposed their attempted bribery of P3M. Also for the death of Commander Leonardo Pitao, alias Kumander Parago of the NPA, when he was the commander of the 10th Infantry Division.

Due to his successful operations, and bested some Generals in his class (3rd AFP Chief of Staff after his Mistah’s Hernando Iriberri, and Ricardo Visaya in PMA Matikas Class of 1983).

On May 10, 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that Año was appointed Secretary of the Interior and Local Government. Año and is set to assume the post following his retirement from the AFP today, October 26. He is Married to Jean Joselyn Dioso-Año.

A decorated soldier, Año was awarded the Philippine Legion of Honor (Degree of Officer). He received 4 Distinguished Service Stars, a Gold Cross medal for gallantry in combat, a Silver Cross Medal, 24 Bronze Cross medals for intelligence case operations, 36 Military Merit Medals, 10 Military Commendation Medals, a Silver Wing Medal, and other various awards including the PMA Cavalier Award.
