United States and Philippine air force personnel conducted several subject matter expert exchanges (SMEE) at various military installations throughout the Philippines from August 16 to 25.

Around 25 US Air Force airmen participated in the exchanges that covered precision guided missile and munitions operations, command and control tactics, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief response.

“The exchange is the fifth iteration of a US-Philippine Air Contingent established by US Pacific Command with the approval of the Philippines and executed by Headquarters Pacific Air Forces. The first US-Philippine Air Contingent occurred in April of 2016,” US Pacific Air Forces said.

“We welcome the opportunity to strengthen our cooperation and interoperability with our Philippine counterparts,” 13th Expeditionary Air Squadron commander US Air Force Colonel James Shigekane said. “These exchanges allow us to share best practices and joint capabilities that helps us bolster our regional security interests and goals.”
