From Update Philippines (Sep 2): LOOK: 5 NPA members surrender amid hardships

Five members of NPA, who are also members of indigenous group Lumad surrendered to Philippine Army’s 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Battalion in Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat, this was revealed by 33IB commander Lieutenant Colonel Harold Cabunoc today, September 2.

“Pagod, hirap, at lamig sa bundok ang kasama sa rason kung bakit nagpasyang sumuko sa 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Battalion ang mga dating bandidong NPA,” Lieutenant Colonel Cabunoc said.

“Naliwanagan ang mga lumad na mali na gamitin ang karahasan para mabawi ang kanilang ancestral domain,” he added.

“Nagtiwala rin ang mga lumad sa tropa ng Makabayan Battalion na tumutulong sa kanilang komunidad sa larangan ng edukasyon at community development,” Cabunoc said.

Cabunoc commended Alpha Company commanding officer First Lieutenant John Jamora and EX-O First LieutenantCesar Ballado.
