AN ALLEGED leader of the News People’s Army (NPA) was arrested by joint AFP-PNP operation conducted at Purok Centro, Barangay Biangan, Makilala, North Cotabato around 1 a.m. yesterday.
 
Lt. Silver Belvis, the civil-military operations (CMO) officer of 39th Infantry Battalion, identified the suspect as Ariel Rebuta alias Siring.

Belvis told TIMES yesterday that 39th IB, PNP Makilala and PNP SAF served a search warrant NR 157-2017 for violation of Sec. 28 of RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms) against Rebuta.

The operating team recovered three M16 rifles with 1,500 rounds of bullets and landmine with detonating switch. The suspect is now in the custody of PNP Makilala for filing of appropriate charge.

In his statement, Lt. Col. Harold Argamosa, 39th IB commander, credited the information given by the residents in the arrest of the NPA.
