Department of National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has offered New People’s Army (NPA) rebels job posts in the military in exchange for their surrender.
Lorenzana made the offer in a speaking stint during the 36th founding anniversary of the Philippine Army’s 5th Infantry Division (5th ID) in Isabela on May 18.
Lorenzana said that true peace “will only be sustainable if we reach into the hearts of our fellow countrymen and bring them back into the folds of the law.”
He encouraged the NPA rebels to be open to changes and strive for lasting harmony.
