MAWAB, COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE – Members of the New People’s Army (NPA) who fled after attacking a joint police and army team at Sitio Paliwason, Brgy Lambog, Manay, Davao Oriental on Wednesday afternoon, 01 February 2017, went on a rampage killing two innocent civilians and forcing 3,286 families to evacuate in Manay, Davao Oriental.

According to  police blotter of  Manay PNP, Rolando Mabas of Sitio Tambo, Brgy Lambog reported that he personally saw the lifeless bodies of Ruben Inidioan and Boy Sumambot, who were killed by the NPA for unknown reason.

In another police blotter entry, Clara Inidio-an reported that her husband Ruben Inidio-an and Boy Sumambot were killed when they crossed path with the NPA while on their way to the center of Brgy Lambog to evacuate.

It can be recalled that the NPA attacked a joint police and army team at Sitio Paliwason, Brgy Lambog last Wednesday afternoon, 01 February 2017, where a junior Army officer was killed and soldiers recovered two high-powered rifles.

In separate reports of Davao Oriental and Manay PNP and 67IB, 3,286 families from Barangays Lambog, Del Pilar, Capasnan, Cawayan, Taocanga and Rizal evacuated due to the presence of the NPA, who are terrorizing them. A total of 455 evacuees are now in Poblacion Manay while others are in the centers of the said barangays. Two residents of Brgy Lambog, Cerillio Lumakang and Nonoy Maumpi, were also reported missing.

The LGUs, PNP, AFP and MDRRMC are closely working together to address the incident.

MGen Rafael C Valencia, 10ID commander expressed grief on the killing of unarmed civilians. “The NPA are bandits on the loose, wantonly killing innocent civilians, confirming that they were never a people’s army ” he added.
