EIGHT Philippine Marine Corps personnel were wounded in a vehicular accident in an east coast village in Zamboanga City, the police reported Thursday, February 2.
 
The Zamboanga City Police Office reported the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Cabaluay, Zamboanga City.
 
The police identified the wounded Philippine Marine Corps personnel as Captain Rando Basubas, Captain Shirly Bacus, Master Sergeant Primo Moreno, Master Sergeant Diosdado Botardo, Master Sergeant Jupiter Basillo, Technical Sergeant Erwin Senora, Sergeant Cierliskie Enriquez, and Sergeant Milmar Martin.
 
The victims are assigned with the Service Support Battalion based at the Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) headquarters.
 
Investigation showed they were aboard an L200 vehicle that accidentally bumped on a parked trailer truck in a dimly-lit area when Martin, the driver, evaded collision with a speeding inward bound vehicle that encroached their lane.
 
The police said the marine personnel were traveling to the Wesmincom headquarters at the time of the incident.
 
They were rushed to the Camp Navarro General Hospital at the Wesmincom headquarters for treatment, the police added.
