Duterte on reported blocking of US rifles sale to PH: Remember what Russia said?

From Update.Ph (Nov 2): Duterte on reported blocking of US rifles sale to PH: Remember what Russia said?

Remember what the Russian diplomat said? Come to Russia. We have everything you need,” this is what President Rodrigo Duterte said when asked to comment regarding the report that a top United States Democrat senator on the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee is blocking the sale of 26,000 assault rifles to the Philippine National Police.

President Duterte previously said that Russia and China have agreed to provide weaponry and armaments that the Philippine military can use in its counter-insurgency campaign. “The two countries have agreed to give me the softest loan, payable in 20-25 years. Sabi ko sa kanila, I want weaponry and armaments,” he said during the 48th anniversary celebrations of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing last September.

“There are countries that offered us, so many. Sabi nila mamili ka lang dun. I would like to ask Defense Secretary (Delfin) Lorenzana to go with you, along with the technical people. Go to Russia, go to China and look for what will be the best for you,” the President said.

Meanwhile, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said he “will have to talk to the PNP and find out their next move. In any case, I am sure our government can procure somewhere else.”
