The Department of National Defense (DND) announced that it has allocated PHP249.67 million for the marine engineering upgrade of the BRP Artemio Ricarte, one of three Jacinto Class Patrol Vessel (JCPVs) currently in service. The JCPVs are one of the most modern surface combatants of the Philippine Navy.

The three ships were originally operated by the Royal Navy in Hong Kong and were sold to the Philippines in August 1997 after the United Kingdom handed Hong Kong over to China.

The money will be sourced from the Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization Act Trust Fund.
Winning bidders are required to deliver the goods and services within 420 days from the date of the Notice to Proceed.

A pre-bid conference will be held at 10 a.m. on Nov. 8, at the DND-BAC Conference Room, Basement, Left Wing of the DND Building in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Bid opening shall be at 10 a.m. on Nov. 22 at the same venue.
