Troopers from the 45th Infantry Battalion were engaging Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits under Jamiri Jaong Jawhari at Danag, Patikul, Sulu Tuesday morning.

Western Mindanao Command (WMC) spokesperson Maj. Filemon Tan said the clash began at 8:20 a.m.

The 45th Infantry Battalion is under Joint Task Force Sulu, which is commanded by Brig. Gen. Arnel dela Vega.

Tan said the encounter was still ongoing as of this posting.

"No casualty (has been) reported on the government side, while undetermined on the Abu Sayyaf bandits(' side)," he added.

Operating troops established attack positions, with artillery fire being provided by the 8th Field Artillery Battalion.

Naval blockades were also being conducted, Tan added.
